The universe is off-balance again. I’ve by-passed too many memes and the narcissistic deities hovering over my computer have finally caught-up with me. I shall bring the yin and yang back in harmony by taking part in one of these gratuitous self-indulgent trips down music lane. My deep apologies for the numerous memes I’ve let pass me by. I sincerely wish I could keep pace, ah but life has a way of overtaking our best intentions.
If there is any blogger out there that taps my virtual shoulder to encourage me in a bit of frivolous narration, it would be Kelly at kellementology.com. She is a persistent soul that passes along some of the most interesting literary challenges. Being the peculiar sort that I am, I’m going to do half of the double meme with a twist. So here goes with what’s on my playlist, only mine is a list of songs I’m currently playing and learning on the guitar.
- Amarillo by Morning – George Strait
- Heart of Gold – Neil Young
- Blackbird – The Beatles
- Johnny B Goode – Chuck Berry
- Floridays – Jimmy Buffett
- A Mi Manera – Gipsy Kings
- I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You – Elvis Presley
- Pancho and Lefty – Willie Nelson
- Wish You Were Here – Pink Floyd
- Threadbare Gypsy Soul – Pat Green
- Momma’s Don’t Let Your Babies Grow-up to be Cowboys – Willie Nelson
- Adalida – George Strait
- In God’s Country – U2
- Redemption Song – Bob Marley
- Son of a Son of a Sailor – Jimmy Buffett
- Folsom Prison Blues – Johnny Cash
- Bad, Bad Leroy Brown – Jim Croce
- Sweet Baby James – James Taylor
- City of New Orleans – Arlo Guthrie
- Baby Blue – George Strait
So there you have it; the songs I’m picking at most evenings when I’m taking a break from stuff. My favorite at the moment is Blackbird by the Beatles as I’m learning the very complex lead part. Very fun to practice.
I tag Mike, Scott, Micki, Matt and Sam. No worries if you aren’t a musician, you can pick-up with the normal meme but I know that at least Scott will have a list to rattle-off. I think he’s been tagged on this one already, but perhaps he’ll join me in this different spin on it. And the band plays on…
