There and Back Again

Posted on July 15, 2008

Yes, it’s a great title for any adventure, Thank you Mr. Tolkein. My wife, kiddos and I embarked on the 4th of July from Austin up through Santa Fe, New Mexico on to South Central Colorado for a twelve day journey. We enjoyed Family Camp with Sky Ranch at Ute Trail where we made new friends, went horse back riding, kayaking, white water rafting, tomahawk throwing, skeet shooting, hiking, and a plethora of other activities; a wonderful getaway from our everyday life. On our return trip we hung out in Santa Fe for a couple of nights for just a taste of "Fanta Se" as one of the locals called it.

I compiled this quick video synopsis of the week. While the setting for the camp was breathtaking, the most beautiful part of the week was both the families and camp staff that we enjoyed. For those looking for a fun vacation and a spiritually encouraging experience in a Christian environment, Sky Ranch Family Camp is spot on for a worthwhile get away.

Glad to have you back Phil! It’s good to get out once in awhile. I’ve had some family visiting, and I’m going to need a vacation after they leave. :-)

    Great Video too!

    Mike,

It’s good to be back. I really cannot remember the last time I took a two week vacation. To get away for a very long week to play and still have time at home to rest on the back end is just amazing. Even though work has been crazy busy I managed by-and-large to avoid doing much even remotely.

Family visiting, yes sounds like a vacation is in order for sure.

Looks like you all had some fun! The activities for the kids are great, and remind me of camp times. Good memories, there. Goodness knows the RTR would have been in the mood for something other than walking and museums on our vacation.

Kelley, It had to be one of, if not the best vacation we have taken. Escaping the heat to Colorado and New Mexico was so refreshing and getting away from all the trappings of our life was so very nice. The kids did in fact love all the activities. Walking and museums in small measure would have been ok with them, but certainly they like the kinetic activity of camp.
