Thomas, Yes you should have no problem working with WordPress from Mac or PC. Aside from uploading installation and plug-in files, everything can pretty much be done in the browser. Many hosts even proven a click-and-install option for an instance of WordPress.

I hired a guy who built me a perfectly fine commercial site, but I want to get my hand into Wordpress to build another site on my own with the ability to edit or blog on a weekly basis. I have both mac and pc systems but would prefer to do all of the work on my mac. Is it possible to do so from a mac and is it possible to then edit via mac or pc?

Josh, very good thought. In terms of upgrade you've got a great point. I just like it's simple implementation and auto back-up on a weekly basis. There is something comforting to know that all my sites data is backed-up on a regular basis. I'll have to work with the automatic upgrade plugin soon as some of my sites are a little dated under the hood. Thanks!

Ah, but the plugin list isn't quite complete. I highly recommend the Wordpress Automatic Upgrade Plugin if you are going to be maintain the installation. Easiest way I've found to keep a blog up to date.
