Kelly, I thought of you with the Mac. I know many a folk who have a much stronger attachment to their Macs than typical windows users. I think do think they are very cool, it's just that the priorities of stuff like new flooring, braces for the kiddos and other necessities just outweigh the coolness factor when I figured in the economics.

Do enjoy your cup and thanks for the well-wish. I'm learning new teas that work well for me and that is quite nice. Of course I still enjoy my dark beer on occasion, which is quite nice.

That is one cool computer set up you and your family will enjoy, Phil. But you know my heart lies in Macland. So a new friends would be Leopard, which I'm working through and trying to figure out why it won't read my external hard drive. But the new tricks are good diversions. So old friend would still be my MacBook whose hard drive had to be replaced last year after it crashed "because they just do once in a while" according to the guy at the genius bar in the Apple store who was trying to recover my photos... So I gifted it to my oldest son who is enjoying its second life.

As far as the coffee goes...good for you. Really. I gave it up for all of my pregnancies without a blink. And I know I could now, but, well, I'm weak. So I'm cheersin' you right now with my morning cup for a job well done.

Mike,

Sounds yummy. Someday perhaps I'll make up to Colorado to taste some of your masterful grilling.

My Leatherman would definitely be on my list. What an amazing tool.

Now that I've finished all that grilling for my command of the grill week, I now have a new friend. I finally picked up a new grill. I've never had a whole lot of room, and this grill has plenty of it.

When we were doing the things you can't live without meme, I mentioned three of my old friends, my Leatherman Knife, my planner, and my iPod. I really couldn't get through the day without them.

[...] Phil posted about old friends and new friends, in his case a new computer. So this is my new friend. I’m looking forward to doing some serious grilling on it. [...]

Scott, what a great example of an old friend. What is more friendly than a pair of slippers? Of course the love that went into them ads to the comfort I'm sure. Thanks for adding-in that idea.

Down here in Texas, we get so few days to use warm slippers that I walk around our house in my Birkenstocks (and anywhere else except work for that matter). Hey, there's one for me. My Birks are definitely old friends. In fact, I'm on my second tread set with them. They are the most comfortable shoes in the entire world.

I had a similar thought about old vs new when I was recently writing about my warm fuzzy slippers. I have an old homemade pair that my great-grandmother knitted for me that I no longer wear but will never get rid of.

While they have been replaced with a series of new pairs that do keep my feet toasty, I fear I will never feel that same attachment as I did to my old friends.

Nice Post
