Thoughtsparks Awarded Outstanding New Blog
Posted on September 4, 2007
Recognition for your blog is a quirky sort of situation. Being that it’s personal, it can feel like bragging or self-indulgence in flattery. Perhaps that’s what strikes me often about the memes. But when some folks endeavor to take a more objective approach to recognizing blogs for their quality of content, somehow that process seems a bit more legit and worth noting. Troy Worman over at OrbitNow! asked his peer group of fellow bloggers to nominate some up-and-coming blogs and I ended-up on the list and Troy concurred. That was a very nice jesture and I appreciate his review and endorsement for the quality of this blog.
I was also interviewed by Mike over at Bloginterviewer.com. Check it out. Turns out if enough folks vote for my blog this month, I could win some cash. Hmm…well that’s pretty cool, but tell you what, if you do vote and I get placed, I’m going to give the money away to a favorite charity. I don’t have anything against money of course, just more fascinated by the process.
After wrestling through the issue about splitting this blog into two, I have found the affirmation and encouragement to keep trucking with my current trajectory. It is fascinating how a blog is both a very personal expression and a work that is somehow detached from oneself. In truth, what came out as a result of one particular comment made by Micki over at My Rearview Mirror, was that she gained from "the diverse content on Thought Sparks because I don’t keep up with the tech blogs as much as the journals". It is for folks like Micki that I write. So Micki, thanks for the comment and great input. You along with a good number of others have helped keep me on the publishing straight and narrow. It’s a fun ride for sure.

Great Job Phil! Congratulations!
The awards are well deserved, keep up the good work.
Mike, Thanks! I will sure do my best.
Had it not been for your tips my latest craze for making postcards and posting them on my blog would have come to naught and for this I thank you both here as well as on one my posts [Fab 4] in my blog in which I captured through Jing and posted. I always learn something new here!
Congratulations Phil! You deserve the award. Keep it up!
Phil, I share your same feeling. That’s why I find it so hard to post awards.
Blessings to you and yours
Let’s Acquire Wisdom and Live with Passion
It’s not bragging, Phil. It’s swaggering. Be proud of what you’ve accomplished because you surely deserve it. I can barely keep up with all the content you’re putting out now.
Phil - Congrats on the award! I certainly find your blog award worthy. Thanks for the nice nod - I’m blushing!
Random, I’m so glad that my posts are a real help in making your blog successful. That’s the kind of stuff that really excites me and fulfills my quest to “ignite ideas for the common good.” That slogan is more than a catch phrase, it’s the driving reason for the blog. How delightful.
Sam, its both encouraging and I think worthwhile to post our accolades when they have some substance to it. It’s kind of like building the resume or credibility of a blog I suppose much like you would for your career. I sure will keep endeavoring to “acquire wisdom and live with passion”, with your encouraging and challenging words, can I do less?
Kelly, Thank you for those kind words. Swaggering, hey I kind of like that. It is encouraging when one puts out some real effort to find folks recognizing it for what it is. I’m committed to quality content and encouraging, enabling, and helping others do the same. If that’s what I’m being awarded for, then how cool to get recognized for it.
Micki, Thanks for the nice comment. I was writing other responses just as you were posting yours. You made a really sharp observation about my blog and for that I am thankful. While I’ve been doing web stuff for ions, publishing a blog is a relatively new venture for me and I was in a bit of soul searching at this juncture. So, yes thank you much.
