Bargain Priced Blog for Sale at 50% Off

Posted on August 9, 2007

This blog is officially for sale. Yep, you heard it right. I’ll sell you the site for half the valued price.  A cool $9,597 and this sweet puppy is yours to have, to hold, to maintenance and to publish. Heck, I’ll even be your guest writer weekly for a year at no additional cost. What, you don’t believe my blog is worth that much, why some folks value it at twice the price, just ask Technorati.com.

My blog is worth $19,194.36.
How much is your blog worth?

Now pay no attention to what I’ve actually banked from this site. When I did run ads, I think I might have made enough to buy a cup of Joe at Starbucks, no not a fru fru latte, just a tall cup of coffee. Yeah, yeah you say, why not monitize the blog? Well maybe I will, but honestly I feel more like a sucker advertising for Google, Amazon etc. than really pulling in some cool hard cash.

I guess I’m old school, but I actually think that gaining real income comes from hard work. I’m not primarily blogging for dollars. Like most shleps, I’d be deceiving myself into thinking I would get rich quick without a solid online business plan which I have not yet put forth.

No, I blog because:

See any common theme in there? I enjoy blogging.

Is my blog worth $19,194.36? No, I’d say it’s probably worth much more than that to me. How paltry a sum to place on the thoughts, ideas and relationships I’ve gained through this blog.

Would I still sell it for a cool 10 grand? Heck yes, and then I’d start a new one. It’s a free country ya know. Any Offers?

    Phil,
    Bravo! Well said sir.
That “How Much Is Your Blog Worth?” widget has had me scratching my head for sometime now. You have really captured the essence of this, and I’m certain others will agree!

Dave, Thanks for the comment. I’m amazed at how much folks buy into the online hype. No doubt some folks have effectively monetized their blogs and I in no way criticize them for it. It’s just that I hate to see people caught-up in false expectations and effectively do more advertising for the companies than any real return for themselves.

    LOL!

You are so funny! I’m right with you on this! The whole thing is nonsense to me!

I’m wondering how many people actually make a decent living off a blog… I doubt it is even one percent!

For me, blogging is about fun, learning, sharing ideas, connecting with others… and just adding a little speck of goodness to the world!

    You are great Phil!

So true, Phil. So true. You’re ahead of me, because I’ve never even gotten a click. I can now picture myself standing at a busy intersection with a ratty cardboard sign that states, “Will write for clicks.”

I do clean up annually with the coinage I find on the ground, however. No one seems to be interested in collecting pennies any longer. They do add up. :-)

Drivebybanjo, Thanks for stopping by. Nice blog by the way.

Jennifer, It’s good to know why you blog and have defined your goals. The reasons people burn-out is because of false expectations. I appreciate the heart you put into your writing.

Kelly, One day I’m going to see you on Oprah talking about Kellementology and how you are helping people to learn “the science of grasping life by the short hairs”. This new wave of philosophy published in your bestselling new book will be changing peoples lives for the better as they become more self-actualized. In the mean time, keep picking up those pennies. You are right they do add up.

You had me going for a second there, you rotter. I only come to this blog to see what you have written in it. As with so many blogs the blogger and the blog are indivisible.

Matt, Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I guess my dry sense of humor seeps out every once in a while. I quite agree with you, I don’t see why anyone would seriously consider purchasing a blog. Indeed, I think you get my drift. But hey, I’m not one to turn down cash. :)
